“The Alaska Chronicles” by Miles Nolte - Book Review

by Cas Summers on June 27, 2009

Very informative and sometimes funny commentary about a season’s work experiences from an Alaskan guide. It might make you yearn to make the trip or to reminisce about a past guided trip and what your guide may remember or write about you. If you have had any thoughts about being a guide I would think you need to read this book.

I enjoyed the book as I returned home from a family visit to Idaho Falls. Twice I found myself laughing loud enough to outdo the rumbling of my stomach due to not eating the horrible meal choices on the flight. I also grinned at times when “Gaper” had the opportunity to fish with fly anglers that we all have and appreciate as friends.

I think I will stick with my Redfish and tarpon trips in FL. I have a friend of mine fishes Alaska annually, and I understand better now about his passion. A good read and the next best thing to being there.
